Abstract

The Student Council (OSIS) is an official school organization that serves as a platform for developing students’ interests, talents, creativity, and organizational skills. According to Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation No. 39 of 2008, OSIS functions as a medium for student development aimed at fostering holistic self-potential, encompassing spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, and leadership aspects. Student Council members are expected to possess sufficient understanding of leadership and the ability to develop themselves into effective leaders. However, in practice, many OSIS members experience a lack of confidence and hesitation in leading, fail to fully understand or carry out their responsibilities according to their respective positions and fields, and demonstrate weak communication skills as well as low levels of discipline. The Basic Leadership Training Program for students of SMK-Plus Perbankan Bougenville Lubuk Basung was organized to address these issues by equipping students with knowledge of leadership concepts, an understanding of organizational management, and the cultivation of fundamental leadership character. This training is expected to enhance students’ self-confidence, improve their communication abilities, and foster the emergence of young leaders capable of becoming agents of positive change both within the school environment and in the wider community.
