UPAYA PENINGKATAN KESADARAN MASYARAKAT DALAM MENJAGA FASILITAS UMUM DAN KEBERSIHAN LINGKUNGAN DI NAGARI SASAK KABUPATEN PASAMAN BARAT

Abstract

The Community Service activity through the 2025 Thematic Community Service Program (KKN) of Universitas Bung Hatta in Nagari Sasak, Sasak-Ranah Pasisie District, West Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra, aims to increase public awareness in maintaining public facilities and environmental cleanliness as well as strengthening community social participation. The identified problems include low awareness of maintaining public facilities, the absence of written regulations on cleanliness, minimal community sports activities, and suboptimal celebration of national holidays. The implementation method used a participatory approach involving the nagari government, traditional leaders, youth, the community, and the Legal Bureau of West Pasaman Regency. Four main programs were implemented: drafting regulations on public facility maintenance and cleanliness, installing warning signs at strategic points, and conducting community exercise activities. The results showed that the draft regulation was successfully developed through consultation with the Legal Bureau as a basis for nagari policy. The installation of warning signs effectively increased public awareness in maintaining cleanliness and order. The community exercise successfully cultivated routine physical activity and improved residents' fitness. This community service program through KKN has provided positive impacts for students in applying knowledge in real-world settings, for the community in having guidelines and awareness to maintain the environment, and for the nagari government in realizing better public facility management.
