Robot is a mechanical device capable of performing physical tasks with a series algorithm. Early robots were used in laboratories or for industrial purposes, but now days robots have been able to replace human work, such as medicine, agriculture and even the military. In the field of education robots were also developed on a laboratory scale. In 1990, the Ministry of National Education held the Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI) for the first time. For junior and high school students, there are also a Robot in Action Competition at ITS in January 2019 and the Indonesian Madrasah Robot Contest (KRMI).
Meanwhile, the Internet of Things (IoT) is a concept in which an object has the ability to transfer data through a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction. The development of information technology allows humans to control robots through online internet devices. In the future, IoT will become an important technology in various fields of life, such as transportation, agriculture, medicine, industry, military, trade and others. So that robots and IoT need to be introduced earlier to the younger generation, particularly for the students of SMAN 1 Padang Ganting.
This PKM will provide Wheeled Robot Programming Training and Introduction to the Internet of Thinks (IoT) for students of SMAN 1 Padang Ganting Batusangkar, Tanah Datar Regency. The purpose of this PKM is to stimulate students of SMAN 1 Padang Ganting to recognize and study robots and IoT as technologies that will develop in the future, and also to introduce electrical engineering study programs and Bung Hatta University to students of SMAN 1 Padang Ganting.
